- For the purpose of registering births and deaths, the Commissioner shall divide [Brihan Mumbai] [These words were substituted for the words 'Greater Bombay' by Maharashtra 25 of 1996, (w.e.f. 4.9.1996).] into such and so many districts and sub-districts as he shall from time to time think fit; and a municipal officer shall be registrar of births and deaths of each such districts.
