Application for Contract Carriage permit for Motor Cab or for Omnibus or Bus shall be made before the Regional Transport Authority in whose jurisdiction the applicant wants to operate his vehicle.

[97A. (1) Application for private service vehicle permit in respect of a motor vehicle under section 76 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 shall be made before the Regional Transport Authority of the region in whose jurisdiction the vehicle has been registered.

The Regional Transport Authority may grant such private service vehicle permit for the more than one region or for whole of the State, as applied for, subject to compliance of the provision of section 76 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.] [Rule 97A inserted vide clause 2(9) of the Notification No. 5305-WT/6M-21/2002 dated 12.12.2003 (w.e.f. 16.12.2003).]
