- Any officer of the Transport Department not below the rank of a Motor Vehicle inspector may. at any time, when a transport vehicle is in public place, call upon the driver of such vehicle to stop the vehicle and to keep it at rest for such time as may be necessary, to enable the officer to inspect the brakes of the vehicle so as to satisfy himself that the provisions of sub-rule (3) of rule 257 of these rules are complied with.
