(1)

Every goods vehicle including a trailer shall be equipped with a strong platform or body so constructed as to be capable of carrying the load for which it is used without danger to other road users and that the load can be securely packed within or fastened to the body or platform.

(2)

Rule 235 of these rules relating to the driver's seat shall apply to the goods vehicle not being a light motor vehicle :

Provided that the State Government may, by order, exempt, subject to such conditions as may be specified in the order, any goods vehicle or class of goods vehicle from the provision of sub-rule (1) of rule 235.

Every goods carriage shall carry in a prominent place on the front of the vehicle a board bearing a distinguishing mark with the letters "Goods Carriage ".

(4)

The distinguishing mark referred to in sub-rule (3) shall be in English letters and painted in black on a white background. The height and the width of each letter shall be less than 13 centimetres respectively.

(5)

Sub-rules (3) and (4) shall not apply in the case of goods vehicles which are exempted from holding any permit under sub-section (3) of section 66 of the Act.
