.In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,-

1. "Board ", in relation to any Institute, means the Board of Governors thereof;
2. "Chairperson ", means the Chairperson of the Board;
3. "Corresponding Institute ", in relation to a society mentioned in column (2) of 1[the First Schedule, the Second Schedule and the Third Schedule] means the Institute as specified in column (3) of 1[the First Schedule, the Second Schedule and the Third Schedule];
4. "Council ", means the Council established under sub-section (1) of section 30 2[ 3*** 4*** as the case may be];
5. "Deputy Director ", in relation to any Institute, means the Deputy Director thereof;
6. "Director ", in relation to any Institute, means the Director thereof;
7. "Institute " means any of the Institutions mentioned in column (3) of 1[the First Schedule, the Second Schedule and the Third Schedule];
8. "Notification " means a notification published in the Official Gazette;
9. "Prescribed " means prescribed by rules made under this Act;
10. "Registrar " in relation to any Institute, means the Registrar thereof;
11. "Schedule " means 5[the First Schedule, the Second Schedule and the Third Schedule];
12. "Senate " in relation to any Institute, means the Senate thereof;
13. "Society " means any of the societies registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (21 of 1860) and mentioned in column (2) of the 5[the First Schedule, the Second Schedule and the Third Schedule];
14. "Statutes and Ordinances ", in relation to any Institute, means the Statutes and Ordinances of that Institute made under this Act.1. Subs. by Act 9 of 2014, s. 2, for "the First Schedule and the Second Schedule " (w.e.f. 4-3-2014). 2. Ins. by Act 28 of 2012, s. 5 (w.e.f. 7-6-2012).
