Subject to the provisions of this Act and of any other law for the time being in force, where goods are sold by a person who is not the owner thereof and who does not sell them under the authority or with the consent of the owner, the buyer acquires no better title to the goods than the seller had, unless the owner of the goods is by his conduct precluded from denying the seller’s authority to sell: Provided that nothing in this section shall affect the provisions of the Indian Registration Act, 1908 (16 of 1908), section 178 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872 (9 of 1872), or sections 28, 29 and 30 of this Act, or of any other law for the time being in force enabling the apparent owner of goods to dispose of them as if he were the true owner thereof.
